I think success is making goals and achieving them.

On some days, they may be small goals like simply getting through the day and remembering to get milk on the way home. Or larger life goals like finishing War & Peace, climbing Mt Kilimanjaro or other ‘bucket list’ things.

Success should be attributed to accomplishing the goals that are important to you and not the goals that you think society/family/boss expects of you.

Success is subjective; it could mean alot of different things to people at different points in their lives. For some people success could be financial- wealth, social status, acquisition of material items. For others, success could be about being a good parent, friend, sibling etc.

For me, success means setting a goal and accomplishing that goal.
Achieving success in whatever endeavor I select to pursue.
Success would be to reach and achieve the goals that I set for myself. Ultimately, true success would be to reach the maximum potential of who I am.

Well sure, doing what you love and excel at is great…but isn’t it really all about the $$$ in the end? Being successful doesn’t mean living in a cramped apartment in a sketch building in parkdale while pursuing your passion for finger painting does it? Yes you need to follow your passion but it’s got to pay out to be a success…I think that’s the gauge, like it or not.

Maybe if I had a copy of The White Tiger it would change my perspective?

Success to me is finding a love for what you do and giving it your all! It’s important to find that inner passion and take it as far as possible. Earning a lot of money is great if it happens, but doesn’t seem to drive me to do things I’m not totally in to…I’ve learned this the hard way.

To me, being successful is feeling like I’m always working towards something, looking forward, working hard to reach my goals every day. Of course there are large goals and small goals each and every single day, and some of them you reach easily and others you don’t, but as long as I am reaching for them, I can say I am successful. Simone de Beauvior said that a lack of progression is the cause of depression, which I really relate to. As long as I feel as if I am not moving I can feel those dark clouds creeping in.
